Why Getting A Facial is Important For Your Skin

While it's true that facials can relax and restore both the skin and body while calming that busy mind, many facials have more specific benefits.  Receiving facials regularly can help you achieve long-term, positive results with your skin.  I see it everyday with my regular clients who come monthly!

Now, it's important to note that there are several types of cosmetic skin treatments that fall loosely under the category of "Facial."  Everything from acne treatments, skin tightening, pigment correction, or even micro-current, which strengthens the muscles in the face.  All of these treatments can visibly change the skin at a deeper level.  While a basic facial offers an array of benefits including deep cleansing, more specialized facials work to address specific skin types and conditions such as rosacea or aged skin.  Getting regular facials like these can prolong and put off the use of Botox or fillers-- even more so if you start early in life.

Benefits of Facials:

#1 Improved Skin

Obviously, the most significant benefit of a facial is overall improved skin.  Most facials entail cleansing, mild exfoliation, steam, and massage.  (Massage is one of my personal favorite parts while giving or receiving a facial!)  This varies from one esthetician to another, and different products will be used according to each individual skin type.  I always recommend using natural or organic skincare products for the best results.  Many of the products out there have ingredients that just sit on your skin, or worse yet-- are toxic and loaded will fillers that do nothing for your skin's health.

Opening up your pores and stimulating circulation through regular deep cleansing, exfoliation, and steaming will brighten, freshen and give your skin a healthier glow.

#2 Collagen Growth

Facials promote collagen growth, helping the skin remain tight and firm.  Collagen is a natural protein found throughout the body, but it becomes depleted as we age. Through certain products and specific techniques we are able to restore levels to the body.  Every facial treatment we provide at Spa Rockaway aims to treat the skin at its foundation, on the cellular level.  This is how we are able to build collagen and structurally improve the skin.

#3 Stimulate Circulation

Facials also serve to stimulate blood circulation, which is crucial for keeping skin hydrated and pigmentation even.  When circulation is stagnant, skin cells do not receive the nourishment they require.  Conditions such as acne, eczema, and psoriasis are affected by compromised circulation.  Healthy blood flow also helps remove waste like free radicals which cause aging (fine lines, wrinkles) and dull complexion.
